After spending the better part of the last decade looking for a home, the Vintage Automobile Museum of New Jersey finally is settling down in Point Pleasant.

The historic club will be moving to their new address at 1800 Bay Avenue in Point Pleasant in the Johnson Brothers Boat Yard around late June of this year. It’s a fortuitous location for the Vintage Automobile Museum, which will be located right next to the New Jersey Museum of Boating.

“We feel we have a duel attraction” says Automobile Museum Executive Director Dave Dieugenio, “people will come to see the history of boats and will come on over to see the history of towns.”

The organization, which is a 501-c3 nonprofit organization, began in 2000 with the desire to start an antique car museum.

“Some states have more than one [antique car museum], some have ten. We don’t have any.”

While they were trying to find a permanent home for their antique auto display the group took their exhibit on the road for a “Museum on Wheels” which visited schools, nursing homes, and other community events.

Dieugenio says they would be able to display cars from every decade and give students a living history lesson of how the political, social, and economic factors affected what and how people drove.
