Why New Jersey Venmo Users Panicked Last Night and What to Expect Now
Venmo has become one of the easiest ways for people to send and receive money with just a few taps on their phone for New Jersey users and beyond.

It’s a digital payment service owned by PayPal, and millions of users rely on it every day to split bills, pay friends back, shop online, and move money between accounts. It's very easy to use but what happens when Venmo isn't working?
What Is Venmo and How Does It Work?
Think of it as a fast, convenient alternative to cash or checks, everything happens in real time, and you can track your payments right from the app.
But like any app, Venmo can run into technical problems from time to time. This is one of the only times I can remember that this App had issues.
Why New Jersey Users Experienced Issues
Yesterday, many users across the country found themselves suddenly locked out of their accounts or unable to send money.
Reports poured in about login issues, payment errors, and transfer glitches. DownDetector.com, a site that keeps track of outages for popular apps and websites, showed thousands and thousands of users flagging problems sometime last night after dinner.
Venmo’s Late-Night Update to Users
The good news? Venmo addressed the situation late last night on Instagram, letting customers know that the issues had been resolved and that the app should be running normally again today.

So if you plan on using Venmo, everything appears to be back on track as you wake up this morning.
While outages can be frustrating, they’re usually temporary. And once Venmo’s systems are up and running again, payments should go through just like they always have.
