There is just something magical about fireworks over Memorial Day weekend in New Jersey. Whether you are a local here at the Jersey shore or visiting with your toes in the sand or relaxing with family at a local celebration, fireworks always feel like the unofficial start of summer in New Jersey.

Yes, the weather forecast has called for a rather gloomy weekend. Rain seems to keep popping up across New Jersey and the Jersey Shore, but let’s stay positive. Around here, we know forecasts can change quickly, and hopefully one of the three holiday weekend nights gives us that perfect clear, get-ready-for-summer sky.

If you are looking for a couple of places to catch fireworks this Memorial Day weekend, here are two fun spots planning to light up New Jersey skies, weather permitting.

Atlantic City Kicks Off Summer With Boardwalk Fireworks

Atlantic City is once again bringing the excitement with the famous Tropicana Fireworks Series. The summer-long fireworks tradition is officially kicking off Memorial Day weekend and gives visitors one of the best views anywhere along the Jersey Shore.

Watching fireworks explode over the beach and boardwalk is classic Atlantic City. Families, couples, and visitors can grab a spot along the sand or stroll the boardwalk while enjoying the show and the energy that only Atlantic City can deliver.

It is one of those summertime New Jersey experiences everyone should see at least once.

Ocean Township (Ocean County) Hosting Local Memorial Weekend Fireworks

If you are looking for something a little more local and community-focused, Ocean Township (Waretown) is also planning a fireworks celebration this Memorial Day weekend.

Ocean Township has scheduled fireworks festivities for Saturday, May 23, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the municipal complex.

These hometown-style fireworks events are always fun because they bring neighbors together for a relaxed night filled with food, music, kids running around, lawn chairs, and everyone looking up at the sky waiting for the big finale.

Fingers Crossed For Clear New Jersey Skies

Now all we need is the weather to cooperate.

New Jersey could really use a beautiful holiday weekend evening filled with sunshine during the day and fireworks at night.

Whether you head to Atlantic City or stay local in Ocean Township, Memorial Day weekend is all about kicking off summer and enjoying time together.
