Police said Todd Marone, 35, of Waretown, was traveling west on the two-lane county road in his Jeep Cherokee around 7:08 AM. Linda A. Ryerson, 65, of Whiting, was heading east in a Toyota Camry and about to turn across traffic onto South Columbus Boulevard.

According to investigators, Ryerson's car hit Marone's during the turn, and she continued driving on South Columbus. Marone's Jeep spun 180 degrees, flipped onto its roof and rammed a utility pole and a curb.

Marone was wearing a safety belt, police said, and clambered from the vehicle with what they described as minor injuries. He was examined at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
