Class A North

Middletown South 72, Long Branch 35

Senior James Mayhofer scored 16 points and classmate Tom Schork added 15 to lead the Eagles (7-11, 3-7) past the Green Wave (1-14, 0-9).

Senior Rob Powell added 11 points for Middletown South, while junior Bruce Gooding led Long Branch with a game-high 24 points.

Class A Central

No. 6 Rumson-Fair Haven 62, Holmdel 47

The Bulldogs (12-2, 7-1) opened their Senior Day game with a basket by senior team manager Matt Newman and went on to top the Hornets (9-8, 4-5) for their eighth straight win.

Senior Scott Gyimesi turned in another loud double-double with 29 points and 15 rebounds, while seniors Geoff Schroeder and Cal Famula each added 10 points for Rumson.

Sophomore Ben Kipnis scored 14 points to lead Holmdel.

Class A South

Toms River North 62, No. 8 Jackson Memorial 60

Sophomore Tareq Council stole and inbounds pass with five seconds left and converted the layup to complete an improbable comeback for the Mariners (8-10, 4-6), snapping a nine-game winning streak for the Jaguars (12-5, 7-3).

Council finished with seven points, sophomore Jeremiah Pruitt and senior Lamir Mitchell each scored 13 and junior Delani Hyde put up 11 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and six blocked shots for Toms River North, which trailed by 20 points early in the fourth quarter and 14 with five minutes to play.

Senior Steven Bado led Jackson Memorial with a game-high 23 points while junior Samir Padilla chipped in 11 in the loss.

Class B North

Red Bank 62, Neptune 43

Junior Nick Valentino scored 23 points and the Bucs (9-6, 7-2) rode a dominant defensive first half to a win over the Scarlet Fliers (3-11, 2-6).

Junior Collin Teter added 13 points and classmate Brian Tobin chipped in 11 for Red Bank, which led Neptune, 27-10, at halftime after holding the Scarlet Fliers scoreless in the second quarter.

Junior Davionne Pearson led Neptune with 10 points.

At Toms River North Gym

Patrick School 58, No. 5 Manasquan 50

Senior Isaiah Griffin scored a game-high 17 points and went 12-for-13 from the free-throw line to help the Celtics (11-4) close out the Warriors (13-4).

Sophomore Ryan Frauenheim led Manasquan with 12 points on four three-pointers, freshman Darius Adams added 11 points and senior Matt Solomon pitched in 10 for the Warriors, who chopped an 18-point halftime deficit down to 56-50 in the final minute before Griffin iced the game at the line.

Non-Division

No. 10 Raritan 56, No. 7 Ranney 55

Senior Justin Rivera banked in a floater to beat the buzzer and the Rockets (13-4) rallied to stun the Panthers (12-3) at the buzzer.

Rivera finished with a team-high 21 points and scored the final seven points of the game, which came in the final 1:10 of the fourth quarter. Junior Jack O'Leary added 12 for Raritan, which overcame an eight-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter.

Junior Isaac Hester led Ranney with 26 points and senior T.J. Braswell Brown chipped in 16 in the loss.

Jackson Liberty 67, Lacey 45

Senior Phanique Dupree scored a career-high 26 points and the Lions (11-6) raced to a win over Lacey (7-10).

Senior Dallas Weisse added 10 points for Jackson Liberty.

Sophomore Logan Brash led Lacey with 18 points and junior Chris Venturoso pitched in 15 in the loss.

Brick Memorial 69, Wall 28

Junior Josh Michigan scored 19 points and senior Luke Braaten added 17 to lead the Mustangs (12-3) to a win over the Crimson Knights (1-14).

Junior Jeremiah Crispin also scored 10 points for Brick Memorial, while seniors Chris Mitchell and Ryan Molloy each scored seven points to lead Wall.

No. 4 St. John Vianney 69, Matawan 49

Senior Nate Williams scored 23 points and the Lancers (16-3) topped the Huskies (2-16) in a battle of neighbor schools.

Sophomore Dylan Seay added 14 points, junior Kyle Verriest contributed 11 points and six assists and senior Omar Calderon pitched in 10 points for St. John Vianney.

Point Boro 39, Pinelands 18

Junior Stephen Mellet scored 13 points and senior Matt Lee added eight as the Panthers (14-2) shut down the Wildcats (7-7).

Senior Rian O'Rourke led Pinelands with eight points.

Non-Conference

Henry Hudson 71, South Amboy 57

Junior Luke Jaccodine led four Henry Hudson players in double-figure scoring and the Admirals (3-13) outlasted the Governors (4-9).

Senior Demitrius Harvey poured in 18 points and junior Jax Ross scored 17 for Henry Hudson. Freshman Jack Fitzpatrick also contributed 10 points in the win.

No. 2 Marlboro 72, Ewing 56

Senior Jack Seidler led four Marlboro players in double-figure scoring with 18 points and senior Jonathan Spatola scored his 1,000th career point to lead the Mustangs (16-2) past the Blue Devils (8-5).

Spatola finished the game with 14 points and six assists and reached 1,000 while at the free-throw line. Senior Jay Ratner also posted 17 points, seven rebounds and three steals and senior Zack Molod threw in 11 points for Marlboro.

Trenton Catholic 63, Mater Dei Prep 40

Senior Anthony Tancredi scored 17 points, but the Seraphs (6-11) could not keep pace with the Iron Mikes (11-4) and Deuce Jones (21 points).

St. Rose 78, Academy Charter 35

Senior Nick DiNatale and junior Jackson Gordon each scored 14 points and the Purple Roses (9-7) rolled to a win over Academy Charter (4-5). Senior Luke Farrell also threw in 11 points for St. Rose.
