Heroin continues to be a problem, both nationally and right here at the Jersey Shore. We heard a lot of talk about the drug problem in America during the Presidential Election and President Elect Trump has stated he'll try his best to fight drugs coming into the U.S. across our borders. While that won't happen overnight, we have a problem right here at home. New information from the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services in the New Jersey Department of Human Services (based on residents seeking treatment for heroin addiction) shows that Toms River saw a 51% increase from 2014 to 2015. Looking at the top 10 towns here at the Shore, Ocean County had 8 towns and Monmouth 2 towns. I think we all pray for an end to the drug epidemic here at the Jersey Shore and around our nation!
