They Say This Is New Jersey’s Favorite Casserole, Do You Agree?
Are you a fan of casseroles? I think sometimes they get a bad rap, but I actually enjoy a good casserole. What exactly is a casserole? According to Masterclass "The term “casserole” can refer to any dish prepared in a casserole dish—essentially a deep, wide baking dish—and baked in the oven. A casserole can have layers, as in the case of an Italian lasagna or a deep-dish pizza, or composed of some evenly distributed combination of veggies, a protein, and a starchy binder."

In a recent article by Cheapism, they highlighted the favorite casseroles in each state. I love some of the names they had like in Montana the "Huckleberry Buckle", North Dakota's "Bison Tator Tot Casserole", Ohio's "Johnny Marzetti", Utah's "Funeral Potatoes", and Arizona's "Gratin of Three Sisters", to name a few. In the article, they said "Casseroles are a versatile dish. Practically anything can go in them, get a quick trip in the oven, and come out as a comforting, homey family meal. What people love to put in them varies regionally based on what's popular, available locally, and traditional in an area."
As far as my picks for favorite casseroles? Well technically lasagna and baked ziti make the list, so I'll put those down. I like potato, tuna, and chicken casseroles too. As far as the pick for New Jersey? Cheapism listed the good ole "green bean casserole" as the top pick for the Garden State, I'd put that on my list too. "The famous Thanksgiving classic, Campbell's green bean casserole, was created by Dorcas Reilly, a New Jersian. She was the test kitchen manager in 1955 when she came up with the recipe, and holiday tables have never looked the same since. The original recipe is incredibly easy with only six ingredients, so there's no excuse not to make it if you haven't already."
