Teens Critically Injured in Little Egg Harbor Crash

A 19-year-old male driver and his 17-year-old female passenger are in critical condition after slamming into a tree Sunday night in Little Egg Harbor Township, according to police.  

The Press of Atlantic City reports the pair had to be cut from the vehicle with the assistance of the fire department and the Jaws of Life. The driver apparently was pinned up against the tree.

Authorities said witnesses reported seeing the vehicle speeding on Giffordtown Road just before the crash.

The victims were flown by helicopter to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment.

The crash is being investigated by Patrolman Edward McNally and officers from the Ocean County F.A.S.T. team. Officers Chris Arciniegas, Mathew Pretty, Brian Smith and John Kelly also assisted.
