It’s that time of the year again when we begin to take stock of the best TV of the year and put our heads together to predict who will take home the gold come awards night. On Thursday, the TV Academy will announce their selections for the 2017 Emmy Awards. We already know the usual suspects will pop up, from shoo-in Julia Louis-Dreyfus to Modern Family and House of Cards, but what about the new series and the underdogs?

Breakout success though Stranger Things may have been, many had to wonder if the series were perhaps best-served by that eight-episode run. Everything we’ve seen from Season 2 seems promising, though producers now lay out a four-to-five season plan for Hawkins, along with a new round of photos.

It was only a few hours ago we learned that Stranger Things would kick off the Season 2 hype on Super Bowl Sunday, but an even … well, Stranger reveal may be afoot. A cryptic tweet from the official account has sleuths suspecting a late summer premiere date, and some stormy skies ahead.

Say what you will about their inability to limit episode orders, but Netflix knows just how to keep a buzz going. Long before Stranger Things made fans beg for a second season, and even before its premiere, Netflix had apparently already placed a stealth order for Season 2.

At long last, our national nightmare finally came to an end with news that Stranger Things would return for Season 2 (or rather, Stranger Things 2). Long before a 2017 premiere, however, producers tease a James Cameron upgrade in the vein of Terminator 2 and Aliens, as well new characters for the 1984 return.

While those monsters at Netflix deny us an official Season 2 renewal, Stranger Things has more than a few ideas already jotted down for its next chapter. The noticeably-older kids will necessitate at least some time-jump from the Season 1 finale, but producers already have in mind to bridge the gap with perfectly ‘80s Stranger Things video game. Yes please?
