Because there is no opening ceremony for this year's Special Olympics, the run is not going to culminate at The College of New Jersey, but rather will be a point-to-point event connecting its dozens of different routes.
The annual event has gone from less than 100 participants 25 years ago to more than 7,000 this year, helping to raise more than $2 million for Special Olympics New Jersey.
With an appropriate slogan of "freezin' for a reason", thousands will splash through the surf in Seaside Heights this coming Saturday (Feb 24) to raise money for a great cause!
