Why New Jersey Women Need To Stop Worrying About Being Nice
We have to stop worrying about being so polite all the time.
Here is why, and it is for your safety.
TikToker Madison Gelgand went viral for her three-part story about how she was almost sex trafficked while shopping inside a Walmart.
Please watch all 3 parts because I just finished them and I now know things that I didn't before that could literally save my life later.
Here's the gist. Madison was almost kidnapped into sex trafficking.
It all went down while Madison was shopping at Walmart when she noticed two men were staring at her. They didn't speak but seemed to communicate using facial expressions.
They followed her throughout the store and to self-check out.
Once she was done paying, she noticed the two men had disappeared. She waited for a crowd to exit the store and went on her way.
One of the men quickly reappeared at her car while she was loading her groceries.
Long story short, she called the guys out and eventually a manager came over to help diffuse the situation.
This is why we need to stop worrying about being polite to everyone all the time.
Imagine if Madison had worried about smiling at strangers or saying hello more than her safety. She may not have made it out to tell the tale.
It is scary but it is true.
Trust your gut. If something feels off, it probably is and you have every right to eject yourself from the situation; polite or not.
If you take anything else away from this article, remain aware of your surroundings at all times.
Imagine Madison had her head buried in her phone to the point that she had never noticed those two men were following her.
Again, she may not be here to tell the tale.
In case this warning alone isn't enough, Madison is far from being the only one to share her story:
Don't worry about being nice. Worry about being safe and returning home in one piece.
I can't guarantee that there will ever be a day when sex trafficking will be completely wiped from this planet. Trust me, I wish I could.
But what we all can do is talk about it and spread this information far and wide.
The goal is to have as many people read this as possible. If people know the warning signs to look for, then they can take action before it is too late.
We may not be able to stop them all, but we can fight back.
Let's just say we are not going down without a fight.
Stay safe, everyone.
