It turns out rumors of a shooting in Berkeley Township are credible.
Berkeley Police Sergeant Jimmy Smith says they're are looking for a man who was seen shooting a gun into the Barnegat Bay. Police say the shots weren't directed at any person and no one is injured. They're asking the public to be on the lookout for a white man in a white t-shirt driving a black SUV towards the area of Ocean Gate.

Reports started circulating on social media this afternoon regarding the alleged gunfire incident in the area of Anglesea Avenue in the Bayville section of Berkeley Township this afternoon but the Ocean County Sheriff's Department noted on theirFacebook Page that the reports were "unfounded."

Even Police at the Berkeley Police Headquarters said there was no evidence of a shooting and posted on their Facebook page:

"All residents are asked to always remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately to the Berkeley Township Police. Anyone with information regarding this incident are urged to call this agency. All Tips are kept confidential.. Updates will follow as necessary. Attention residents of Berkeley Township, specifically the Bayville section a report of shots fired in the area of Anglesea Avenue is unfounded."
