The Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank has announced that they will be showing 'Purple Rain' on Sunday night (April 24, 2016) at 8pm. Tickets for the showing are free. The Basie is asking patrons to bring canned food items as their price of admission. Donations will be sent to Lunch Break in Red Bank.

Admission is free, but seating is limited to the first 1,500 ticket holders. You can download tickets the Basie website right now or pick them up at the theater's box office during regular business hours this weekend.

The response on Facebook from fans has been very impressive. The Count Basie Theatre said that they're asking for food donations because "as we know from the past, there is good that can come from the saddest of circumstances."

If you're unable to attend Sunday's showing of Purple Rain, you can wait until May 20 to see the show in Asbury Park at the Paramount Theatre.
