Beloved Jersey Shore Event Returns This Weekend In Asbury Park, New Jersey
Seriously, how awesome is Asbury Park? The history is one-of-a-kind, the beach is beautiful, the businesses are wonderful, and the locals are the best.
At Sea.Hear.Now, during his performance, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam praised Asbury Park by saying, "We've got surf, we've got good people, we've got a boardwalk, we've got pinball machines, we've got everything a human being could want..." He's right!
In the last couple of weeks, Asbury Park has hosted Sea. Hear. Now, AsburyFest, and now this Saturday, October 2nd you can enjoy PorchFest! The 5th annual Asbury Park PorchFest will get started at 11 am in Springwood Park with the Bryan Hanson Band. Expect live music to be played on people's porches until 5 pm.
Thanks to the creators of Asbury Park PorchFest, here is everything you need to know for this year's event:
PorchFest was founded in Ithaca, NY in September 2007 by neighbors Gretchen Hildreth and Lesley Greene. Over the years the concept of hosting performances on front porches, for an audience who moved from home to home, has grown with communities around the U.S. organizing PorchFests of all sizes. Asbury Park’s passionate connection to music, its beauty and camaraderie, and its beautiful porches make it an ideal town for our own annual PorchFest.
This family-friendly, FREE event features musicians from a wide variety of genres. Afternoon entertainment will include dozens of performers on porches throughout the city. Attendees will stroll from porch to porch and relax on front lawns and sidewalks as they enjoy live, local talent. A Program Guide will be available and a map of porches and performers will be posted here.
This is a FREE event. AP PorchFest is completely coordinated by volunteers who believe in the power of music and understand that engagement builds strong communities. Show your support for local music, the arts, and your community by sponsoring a porch, placing an ad in the event program guide, or by simply making a donation. Asbury Park PorchFest is a 501 (c)(4) non-profit organization.
A special thank you to the Asbury Park Homeowners Association for organizing PorchFest. APHA is a not-for-profit corporation that provides homeowners with an organized means of gathering together to provide a better life in the city. They also aim to serve all residents of Asbury Park and so have held food drives, helped clean our parks, and now they are bringing you PorchFest.
