Who doesn't love ice cream?

My sister is lactose intolerant, and she'll still suffer through to have a scoop every now and then!

Ice cream and the Jersey Shore go together like peanut butter and chocolate; it's just the perfect combination.

Whether your preference is hard scoop, soft serve, or even frozen yogurt you'll easily be able to fill that sweet tooth craving.

Even if you venture past the Jersey Shore and deeper into the Garden State, it's not hard to see that ice cream is popular everywhere (Duh!)

There are so many different places to try, honestly I could blow my life savings on a New Jersey ice cream shop tour.

Unfortunately, one local favorite is going to have to close its doors after being a staple in the community for the past ten years.

I love places like this; a local shop that not only provides some delicious treats and coffee, but also strives to be a positive light in the world, and has an awesome name.

In the NJ.com article, store owner Barry Goldenberg elaborates upon the reason for the  closure:

“Dear friends: our landlord has plans for our building that don’t include Bohemian Raspberry, and will not renew our lease. It is with great disappointment that I announce, after nearly ten years, we will close our doors by August 1st.”

If you've never been here before, it's worth a drive. Unlike some ice cream and frozen yogurt shops, this one is self serve.

Meaning that when you go in to grab your snack, you actually get to pull the lever that releases the soft serve into your cup.

Personally I always over serve myself with these, but that's not a bad thing!

In addition to the self serve soft serve, they also had a toppings bar with pretty much anything you could think to put on top.

Bohemian Raspberry, according to the NJ.com article, opened its doors after Hurricane Sandy and has been serving the community ever since.

For now, Bohemian Raspberry plans to remain open until about August 1st.

I'm a big advocate for supporting local, and seeing a place like this have to close its doors is devastating.

Whether its ice cream, coffee, breakfast, musical items or clothes, if you can support a Mom and Pop business by all means do!
