UPDATE! JBJ Soul Kitchen Pop-Up In Downtown Toms River EXTENDED!
JBJ Soul Kitchen began as a simple but powerful idea from Jon Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea Bongiovi, who wanted to take on hunger in a way that felt human and respectful. In 2011, they opened the first nonprofit restaurant in Red Bank, New Jersey, where there are no set prices, just a suggested donation for those who can afford it, and a chance to volunteer for those who can’t.

The goal was never just to feed people, but to bring everyone to the same table without labels or judgment. As the idea caught on, the JBJ Soul Kitchen expanded to other locations, continuing to show how community and compassion can work hand in hand, one meal at a time.
One of the most recent expansions for the JBJ Soul Kitchen is the "Pop-Up" project, which was created in Downtown Toms River at the Ocean County Library on Washington Street.
The "Pop-Up" was going to close, but following a recent meeting, it will continue, for now.

According to reports, "On Wednesday, January 28, the Ocean County Library Commission held a meeting to discuss the JBJ Soul Kitchen Pop-Up located inside the Ocean County Library in downtown Toms River. Following this discussion and a strong advocacy from library staff, community partners, and local residents, the Ocean County Library Commissioners approved an extension of the Pop-Up through April 30, aligning with the remainder of the Code Blue season."
Residents are encouraged to stop by the pop-up. The next time you’re deciding where to grab lunch, consider JBJ Soul Kitchen, a place where you can enjoy a great meal while knowing you’re making a positive difference in your community.
