A Philadelphia man has been indicted on several charges for shooting a man in the parking lot of the Willingboro Township shopping center last year.

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced Thursday that 20-year-old Lamar Johnson, of Granite Street, was incited by a grand jury on charges of Attempted Murder (First Degree), Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (Second Degree), Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Second Degree), and Aggravated Assault (Third Degree).

When Willingboro Police responded to the scene on October 11, 2021, around 5:30 pm, they found 19-year old Nasir Phillips of Willingboro sitting in a vehicle with gunshot wounds to his hand and abdomen.

Phillips was taken to Virtua Willingboro Hospital and then was flown out to Cooper University Medical Center in Camden for treatment.

Police learned through the course of their investigation that Johnson drove to the shopping center after he learned Phillips was there.

Once on scene, Johnson went after Phillips as he left a sandwich shop, and started shooting at him with a handgun, hitting him twice with bullets after he entered his vehicle.

Johnson was arrested November 15, 2021, in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Unit, waived extradition, and was then brought to the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, where he remains.

He is being prosecuted by Burlington County Assistant Prosecutor Michael Angermeier, supervisor of the BCPO Gang, Gun and Narcotics Task Force (GGNTF).
