Bayville, NJ man arrested for violating Megan’s Law and registering as a Sex Offender

An Ocean County sex offender who moved from the Bayville section of Berkeley Township to Toms River has been arrested and charged for doing so and not letting local authorities know about it.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced Wednesday that Mark Brayman, 55, was arrested and charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, which is a violation of Megan’s Law.

When making the move, Brayman failed to register as a sex offender in Toms River and inform any local law enforcement agency of his change of address, which is why he was arrested on Monday by Toms River Police and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Megan’s Law Unit for the third-degree crime.

Prosecutor Billhimer explains that: "since 1994, Megan’s Law requires certain offenders to register with their local police departments whenever they move and/or change their residential address or place of employment."

Brayman has been in the Ocean County Jail all week and will stay inside, pending a detention hearing.
