Ocean County Mall Stores and Restaurants We Miss Most

The Ocean County Mall on Hooper Avenue in Toms River opened On July 20, 1976. I remember when "The Mall" opened nearly 48 years ago. It was a great place to go and walk and hang out. I missed it when they had the movie theatre in the mall. We would go and do a lap or two and then go into the movies at the mall. When the movie ended we would maybe take a walk around and spend whatever money we had lol which wasn't a lot but it was always cool to look. I remember seeing the original Star Wars, Grease, and Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band (the movie) when they came out and we went to the mall to watch. I don't know why I remember Sgt. Pepper lol a very forgettable film. There were others, but I miss when you could pop into a movie at the mall.

I like what they are doing at the mall now with the additional restaurants on the property but not inside the mall. It allows you to just dine without shopping in the mall, The other self-standing stores on the property are nice too if you don't want to go into the entire mall. I still love on a rainy day to just go to the mall and spend an afternoon walking about and shopping and not getting wet lol
