Ocean County Assemblyman Dave Wolfe calling it a career

Ocean County 10th District Assemblyman Dave Wolfe (R) has announced that he will not be seeking re-election this November.

“It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to have had the opportunity to serve the families of the 10th Legislative District for the past 27 years. I would like to offer my sincerest gratitude to my wife, Carol, who has supported me every step of the way during my tenure as Assemblyman," Wolfe said.

I have been fortunate to have never lost an election since 1991, and I am confident that I still have the support of my constituents. However, I have decided that I will not be filing for re-election in 2019. I think it is time for me to be more involved in the lives of my family members, and I am looking forward to spending more time with them. I will continue to serve my district until my term ends next January."

Wolfe, 77, has spent time in addition to being a politician as the Senior Assistant to the President at Ocean County College from 2008-2014 and a Professor from 1969-2014 and in the Administration from 1969-1984.

He was also on the Township of Brick Council from 1976-1991 and President of the Council from 1980-81 and 1987-1988.

As an Assemblyman, Wolfe has served on three committees; the Education, Environment and Solid Waste and Joint Committee on the Public Schools.

He has served as Chairman for the Education Committee and Vice Chairman for the Joint Legislative Committee on the Public Schools and is also assigned to the Telecommunications and Utilities Committee.

"My goal as an elected official always has been to help my constituency to have a better life for their families. Education has been a passion of mine, and I am proud of my role as Chairman of the Assembly Education Committee and Vice Chairman for the Joint Legislative Committee on the Public Schools," Wolfe said. "I'll never forget all of the classrooms I visited, or my 'blueberry kids' who learned about the legislative process by helping me to pass the law designating the state fruit."

Wolfe has also worked closely with the State Beach Erosion Commission as a past Chairman, the Ocean County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Governor's Advisory Panel on Higher Education Restructuring, and is a Board Member for the Health South Rehabilitation Hospital, A+ for Kids and the Ocean Federal Foundation.

"I'm also proud of our work to protect the Jersey Shore for generations to come, including the clean-up of the Barnegat Bay and the relief and recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy," Wolfe said. "As the author of the original Blue Acres bill, I am extremely proud of the success the program has had to preserve and enhance New Jersey’s waterways."

He has also been recognized by many organizations and schools and has been honored by the NARFE, ASAH, COSAC, the Ocean County Council Boy Scouts of America, and the Ocean County Bar Association and has been given a Certificate of Appreciation from Richard Stockton State College of New Jersey and Veterans Memorial Elementary School.

"It has been an honor to serve the district with strong leaders like Andy Ciesla, Ginny Haines, Jim Holzapfel, and Greg McGuckin," Wolfe said. "They were and always will be great teammates and friends. I would like to thank my staff, many of whom have been with me for nearly the entire ride."
