Ocean County Undersheriff Dies

Ocean County Undersheriff Wayne Rupert has died. According to Ocean County Administrator Carl Block, Rupert apparently fell off the roof of his summer vacation home in Pennsylvania as he was winterizing the trailer. It's not clear if he somehow lost his footing or perhaps suffered a medical event while on the roof yesterday.

The 68-year-old was a 44-year veteran of the Ocean County Sheriff's Department and served as the right-hand man of 83-year-old sheriff William Polhemus.
