What do the following topics have in common?

  • Religion
  • Abortion
  • Politics
  • COVID vaccinations

The answer is debating them over dinner, at a barbeque or basically anywhere  could lead to a bitter argument, the end of a friendship or even a family member swearing never to speak with you…and vice versa.

I’m smart enough to stay away from the first three but I simply can’t let go of the fourth one was we continue to move in the wrong direction when it comes to COVID-19 and the increasing number of positive cases in New Jersey and the entire country.  I’m like many of you in that I admit at times to being confused over the ever-changing information that comes out in dealing with the virus.  While you can question the government’s handling of this information why would we doubt science.  Don’t we realize that for the most part we’re in unchartered territory and working through a pandemic that we still don’t know everything about?

Yes vaccinated people are testing positive and have the ability to spread the virus, especially the Delta variant.  However the main difference between them and those who refuse the vaccine is they don’t usually get very sick (if at all) and rarely are hospitalized or die which should be the most important factor.  Despite that millions of people cite their freedom in refusing to get the vaccine even though it’s widely accepted as the best defense against COVID-19.

Maye you can’t be convinced but we are getting close to the point where your “freedom” to eat at a restaurant, attend a sporting event or even remain in your job may be taken away without proof you’ve been fully vaccinated.  That is something that can and just might be done.

The States Where People Live The Longest

Stacker used data from the 2020 County Health Rankings to rank every state's average life expectancy from lowest to highest. The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.

Read on to learn the average life expectancy in each state.
