A potential coastal storm is expected to approach New Jersey around the middle of next week, possibly bringing heavy rain just days before Halloween, according to the latest weather forecast.

According to a Patch report, "Details are still uncertain as of Friday, but National Weather Service forecasters say a storm could form and impact the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic."

86th Annual Toms River Fire Company #1 Halloween Parade is back!

The parade is scheduled for Friday, October 31st (Halloween) and will kick off at 7 pm along Main Street and Washington Street through Downtown Toms River. It will be a matter of watching and seeing about the forecast, but as indicated by the Patch article, it is still too soon to call regarding an exact forecast.

"Periods of moderate to locally heavy rain and gusty east to northeast winds are possible with this storm, but details are uncertain," the National Weather Service said.

As of right now, Weather.com is calling for:

  • Thursday: Rain 64*
  • Friday: AM Showers 60*

Forecasters are also keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Melissa, which could become a hurricane this weekend. No threat to New Jersey at this time, but it's worth watching.

LOOK: How Halloween has changed in the past 100 years

Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
