New Jersey American Water has announced that they are replacing approximately 420 feet of aging water main in Ocean Grove beginning next week.

The water main being replaced by NJAW was installed in the 1920's.

The new one will be 8-inch ductile iron main and placed along Clark Avenue from Whitefield Avenue to Lawrence Avenue.

Their project also includes replacing 20 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route.

NJAW is replacing this water main for similar reasons to that of other related projects which they said is to advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in the community.

This project is part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.

New Jersey American Water’s contractor, Montana Construction, will begin work the week of September 16 between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and they expect to finish by early November, weather permitting.

Work outside of these hours is not anticipated unless required to maintain project schedule.

Final street restorations will be completed in the spring of 2020.
