New information from the Ocean County investigators regarding Wednesday's incident in which a Toms River police officer fired his weapon as a car sped toward him sheds more light on the circumstances.

Shamar S. Kerr, 24, of Jackson, is charged with attempted murder along with eluding and two heroin possession counts.

Also under arrest on heroin charges are Candido A. Jackson, 26, and Jessica N. Curcio, 23, of Toms River. Bail for Kerr was set at $500,000. Jackson's bail was set at $200,000. Curcio's bail was set at $75,000.

According to information from County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato's office, shooting took place oustide 182 Old Orchard Road West in the township after the two officers established initial contact. The 2014 silver Ford Focus containing the suspects sped away and was round in front of 1888 White Knoll Drive in the township.

Jackson and Curcio were apprehended at that point while Kerr ran, leading to the four-and-a-half-hour manhunt. authorities said.

Toms River PD Sergeant Keith Diehl spotted and arrested Kerr near an Exxon station on Route 9 and Cox Cro Road.

The unidentified officers involved were evaluated overnight at Community Medical Center in Toms River and released this morning, investigators said.
