CAUGHT: Neptune Township, NJ man arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in Asbury Park, NJ shooting

Asbury Park Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Bureau have identified the man allegedly responsible for a shooting that occurred within the city in February sending the victim to the hospital.

Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced Tuesday that 29-year-old Stephon Keys of Neptune Township is being charged with first-degree Attempted Murder and several related weapons offenses after being located and arrested for his connection to the February 27 shooting.

Keys was identified as the suspect last week, according to Acting Prosecutor Linskey, which is when charges were filed against him following an investigation by Asbury Park Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Bureau.

On Tuesday morning, Keys was arrested by the aforementioned law enforcement agencies along with the U.S. Marshals Service and without any incident.

Keys will remain in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold pending his first  appearance and detention hearing in Monmouth County Superior Court.

He faces up to 20-years in state prison if convicted of Attempted Murder.

The man he shot on February 27 around midnight outside the Washington Village housing complex along the 1300 block of Washington Avenue was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
