The drinking water was tested by the Naval Weapons Station Earle in Howell where 29 private off-base drinking water samples were picked up but only one was found with levels over the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provisional health advisory.

While results continue to come in and until a long term solution is figured out, the Navy is giving bottled water to drink and cook with.

"The well-being of our neighbors in Howell is a top priority for the Navy," said Capt. Jay M. Steingold, Commanding Officer of Naval Weapons Station Earle. "We will continue to keep the community and our partners up-to-date and informed of where we are in the process and the next step."

Sampling results are yet to be verified but once they are results from the other samples will be released.

Drinking water started being tested by the Navy in December and in Earle it was discovered firefighting forma was once under use for training purposes but contained PFC's.

If anyone has further questions regarding the study and results the Navy is asking you to visit www.cnic.navy.mil/EarleInfo or call them at 732-866-2171.
