A motorcyclist had to be flown to the hospital after colliding with a vehicle at the intersection of Route 70 and Roosevelt City Road in Manchester Sunday afternoon.

Township police said 38-year-old Kevin McCloskey of Riverside was traveling on Eastbound Route 70 when a car traveling in the opposite direction tried turning left onto Roosevelt City Road.

McCloskey was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. None of the three people in the vehicle were injured.  Police also said several other motorcyclists riding with McCloskey were not involved in the crash. The crash backed-up traffic for hours.

The accident is under the investigation by Manchester Patrolman Paul Bachovchin of the Traffic Safety Section.  Assisting at the scene were members of the Manchester Twp. Police Patrol Division, the Ocean County Sheriff's Dept. Criminal Investigation Unit, NJ Department of Transportation Traffic Diversion Unit and the Whiting Vol. Fire Department.
