Mother Nature’s First Winter Blast Misses Shore
While it appears Ocean County will escape any of the white stuff today a good portion of New Jersey will see snow for the first time this winter.
Actually that’s not true because it’s still fall. Winter does not arrive for another five weeks but that won’t stop Mother Nature for showing us what’s ahead. I don’t know about statistics but this has not been a great fall season. It seems like we’ve had a lot of clouds and rain. There is some good news for those that have to travel on Thanksgiving and that is the holiday looks dry. At least right now it does.
I know I’ve mentioned this before but it’s amazing how just a few minutes can disrupt your morning routine, that is for those of us who have a strict one. Normally when I swing by the Dunkin Donuts in Pine Beach just before 4 a.m. I place my order (large coffee, cream, two Splenda) and pull right up to the window and am gone in a couple of minutes.
I don’t know what’s happening but the last few days I have had company with as many as four cars in front of me. It would not be too bad if they were all just ordering coffee but I seem to always be behind someone getting a Frozen Chocolate drink which takes time to make especially when only one person is working the overnight shift. That 10 minutes I lost threw me out of whack and put my entire routine behind schedule.
As the high school football season is coming to a close it won’t be too long before basketball takes the spotlight for me and that means the 35th Annual WOBM Christmas Classic which this year is presented by InVision Eye Care. The same 32 boys and girls teams that participated last year will return with first round games December 22-23 at the RWJBarnabas Health Arena.
Manasquan returns to defend their boy’s championship while Manchester is not only back to try and defend the girl’s title but the Hawks are expected to be a force state-wide this winter as well. Practice, or tryouts as they are now called begins Monday for basketball and wrestling so the season is just around the corner.
