The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office are looking for witnesses and anyone with information regarding a car accident that later killed two and injured two others on Sunday afternoon.

Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey said that the investigation to this point has revealed that a 74-year-old woman from Manalapan was driving southbound in a 2019 Lexus NX on Route 9 Sunday afternoon when she sideswiped a 2-15 black Lexus RX350 and then a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek and then rear-ended a 2017 black Honda CR-V which ended up rear-ending a 2009 purple Scion TC as a result of being rear-ended themselves.

Freehold Township Police were first on the scene around 1:28 pm near Route 9 South and Route 33 West

Police said that a 52-year-old woman from Marlboro, who was one of the passengers in the Honda CR-V, was pronounced dead at the scene, with a second passenger in that vehicle, a 61-year-old man from Marlboro, passing away from his injuries at the hospital.

The two passengers who died have been identified by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office as 61-year-old Masoud B. Salib and 52-year-old Hanaa I. Salib.

Acting Prosecutor Linskey said that the 21-year-old Marlboro man who was driving the Honda CR-V -- Mark M. Salib -- is currently in critical condition at the hospital while the driver of the Lexus was hospitalized for serious injuries and the drivers and passengers involved in the crash had sought medical attention for minor injuries.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County SCART and the Freehold Township Police Department continue investigating the fatal crash.

If you witnessed, saw, or heard anything, or have information that can help with the investigation, you're urged to contact Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Nicolas Logothetis at 800-533-7443, or Freehold Township Police Department Patrolman Justin Nunno at 732-462-7908.
