Missing Brick Township Man Returns, Silver Alert Discontinued

James Fischer, the Brick Township 85-year-old who hadn't been seen since leaving Ocean Medical Center in the township a little after midnight Monday, is back, and safe, say police.

The Silver Alert that was activated when he was reported missing has been taken down.

Fischer's reported struggle with dementia figured heavily in the decision to launch the alert.

Police say that Fischer surfaced in Ogdensburg, New Jersey, where he was stopped by local officers on patrol for failing to dim his car's bright beams. He was lost, police said.

Officers matched Fischer's driver's information to the missing persons report that had been issued for him. He was given a hospital evaluation and checkup.
