Shawn’s Favorite Interview: The Legendary Maya Angelou [50 Memories in 50 Days]
There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you ~ Maya Angelou
As we look back at memories here at WOBM I can't help but remember all the great interviews I have been a part of here on the morning show. I've done many in my 22 years hosting the Ocean County Breakfast Show, but one that sticks out is when Sue & I sat down to chat and have coffee with the legendary Maya Angelou. When you listen to Maya speak you can feel her passion, knowledge, and wisdom. She was truly a literary icon.
Among Maya's accomplishments:
- Pulitzer Prize Nominee
- Presidential Medal of Freedom
- National Medal of the Arts
- Grammy Winner
- Tony Award Nominee
- National Women's Hall of Fame
- Crystal Award
- Coretta Scott King Award
- Lincoln Medal
These are just a few of her lifetime achievements. It was a great honor for Sue and me to do this interview prior to Maya Angelou's death in 2014.
