Manchester Senior’s Death Investigation Deepens

The suspicious death of Anthony Verdicchio, 76, in Manchester prompts local and Ocean County investigators to seek more details from people familiar with him.

Authorities say the condition in which his body was found in his mobile home in the Pine Acres Park development Monday leads them to pursue it as a homicide.

An autopsy today is expected to determine the cause and manner of death. Preliminary investigations indicated head trauma.

Emergency services workers responded to a 911 call of a man unconscious and not breathing around 5:18 Monday afternoon. Investigators soon labeled the incident suspicious.

Verdicchio was last seen Sunday, May 12, attending 9 AM mass at Saint Paul Lutheran Church on Cable Avenue in Beachwood.

Authorities are especially interested in speaking with anyone who might have seen Verdicchio between 10 AM Sunday and 5 PM Monday.
