A generous donation to the Manchester Township Police K-9 Unit earns the fundraisers a live demonstration by the squad.

Crestwood Village 5's Garden Club watched Officers Marc Micciulla, Steven Wendruff, Storm and Lynk run through their paces Thursday. The group presented the teams with a check for $2,000.

“We very much appreciate that the members of the Garden Club kept our K-9 Unit in mind as they decided to give back to the community. We’re grateful for all of the support we receive from the public,” said Lt. James Sharkey, who oversees the unit.

The non-profit Manchester Township Police Foundation manages contributions for the K-9 Unit, and also distributes funds for youth and community outreach programs, police charities, advanced education and training, and specialized equipment. K-9 funds cover ongoing training for the dogs, and for their handlers.

Donations can be pledged through the Police Foundation portal in the Manchester Police web page.
