A 28-year-old pharmacy technician from Whiting employed at a convenience store in the Manchester neighborhood is accused of systematically pocketing hydrocodone tablets from its inventory.

Michael Weygand was arrested Wednesday and released to await a court date on charges of possession and theft of a controlled dangerous substance.

Township police that a loss-prevention manager at the CVS on Route 530 reported the disappearance of the drugs after an inventory audit was completed. A loss-prevention officer concluded that Weygand had clipped the pills over several months while on the job.

Police say that they found some of the pills on Weygand while searching him, and then found more at his dwelling after he consented to a search there.
