Patrolman Marc Micciulla and his K-9 partner Storm graduated from the New Jersey Police K-9 Association Patrol Class #12 on June 26, 2015.  Police Chief Lisa Parker says it's a very proud day for the department.

"Having our own K-9 team will ensure that our officers will have in-town access to a canine team at a moment's notice," Chief Parker said.  "The immediate availability of a canine team will undoubtedly increase the safety of our community and our officers."

The class involved training in tracking, searches in buildings and open areas, criminal apprehension, and officer protection.  The team will also attend a ten-week course on narcotics detection this fall.  Patrolman Micciulla says he's eager to put his training to use.

"We are anxious to get out on the road and use the skills we were taught to serve the community," Micciulla said.

The Brick Township Police Department donated Manchester's K-9 vehicle and Bradley Beach Police donated the vehicle cage.  Whiting Veterinary Services donated examinations and medications.  The Manchester Police Department would also like to thank Stafford Township Police and Sergeant Anthony Turso with the Tinton Falls Police Department for their assistance and guidance.
