Lakewood man who barricaded himself at home then shot at police has been indicted

The Lakewood man who caused a domestic disturbance then proceeded to barricade himself inside his home then shoot at police, has been indicted by a Grand Jury in Ocean County.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced the indictment Monday of Stanley Williams, 25, on two counts of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

It was a troubling scene that began to escalate slowly and methodically, dragging out for hours between the night of April 17, and before the sunrise on April 18 at a home on Lisa Robyn Circle.

Lakewood Police got a call around 7:10 pm that Saturday night of a man and woman arguing being involved in a verbal altercation.

When officers got there, all was quite.

But then 50-year old Kadiatu Sesay ran down the officers and informed them of what was going on.

She was talking with a friend in the living room and then her son camel down the stairs and began "acting erratically", according to Lakewood Police.

So police when back to the home, up the stairs to Stanley's room where had barricaded himself only to open up the door and attack the officers with a knife to the face and head.

Police left the home, called for backup and back in they went with the LTPD Special Response Team and a crisis negotiator to convince Stanley to surrender.

That didn't work.

So, around 2:30 am on the 18th, the LTPD SRT along with the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team teamed together, reentered the home seeing Stanley "armed with what appeared to be a handgun," Lakewood Police said at the time.

He then used a BB gun to shoot at the officers, hitting one of them who suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result.

Once again, Stanley then retreated to his bedroom.

He did not want to come out, so tactical teams tossed in some pepper spray.

Stanley then walked out, was arrested and has been in the Ocean County Jail ever since.

Prosecutor Billhimer said that Ocean County Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Michael Abatemarco, Assistant Prosecutor Genna Moscato and Assistant Prosecutor Victoria Esler are handling the case on behalf of the State.
