A few months back, I revealed to the world that I watch Jersey Shore.  It wasn't easy to let that cat out of the bag.  Now that we're several weeks in to Season 5, I am starting to feel the show is losing the "magic" ---and I say that very loosely - that it once had.

I think what first drew me in was the fact it was shot virtually around the corner.  There's always a novelty of seeing places you visit either on the small or silver screen.  My friends and I watch shows and movies filmed in the tri-state area and always perk up when we can say "hey, such and such was filmed here."  I remember being a young kid, making my parents find Dana Barrett's Central Park West apartment building from Ghostbusters or going to Sardi's where Kermit the Frog had lunch in Muppets Take Manhattan.  So now a show that's so close to where I live.  Cool!

With the reality show taping on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk and at various locations in Toms River and the surrounding communities, I became immediately hooked.  Oh and also the sleazy subject matter made for a good time killer when there was nothing else on.  But as the controversy surrounding the subject matter and Italian stereotypes dwindled and more people accepted the show as silly entertainment, it was the train wreck you couldn't turn away from.  My wife and I have seen every episode up till now with the exception of last week's which is sitting on the DVR.

In my opinion, the show has been boring this season.  The formula of laundry by day and clubbing by night is starting to wear a little thin.  Recently, cast member Vinny was homesick so he left the show for an episode and a half.  It was so dumb.  Yeah, homesick.  I get it.  But you're getting millions of dollars to drink and party and you're gonna complain?  The Situation isn't himself anymore.  He was great the first two seasons - now it appears he's just going through the motions.  Snooki's shenanigans crossed the line with public urination as did J-Woww last season.  Pauly-D is probably the only real likeable character left.  And Ronnie and Sammi haven't had a fight in ages.  Is it wrong to say I miss the drama?!

While the Snooki and J-Woww spinoff show tapes in Jersey City, I wonder how that will be and hope I don't get hooked on that.  Is Jersey Shore a bore?  Has it lost something for you?  I also wonder how long Jersey Shore can go on for.
