Even though Fall doesn't officially arrive in New Jersey until Saturday, the Halloween season is already in full swing.

With Halloween comes candy, costumes, and scary movies.

We all have the go-to frightening flicks that we have to watch every season.

My favorite is old school and it was filmed right here in Jersey.

Friday the 13th.

Who would have thought that the 1980 low-budget horror movie centered around Jason Voorhees torturing the kids at Camp Crystal Lake would spawn a total of 12 movies in the franchise?

Another must is Halloween.

It's considered one of the most influential and iconic horror films in cinematic history.

Masked killer Michael Myers escapes from a mental institution and returns to his hometown to terrorize a babysitter Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis.

The latest and possibly last installment of Halloween was released this year and is actually pretty good.

If you're looking for less horror and more of a spooky vibe, you can always go with this cult classic.

Ah yes, who can forget the Sanderson sisters played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy?

Fun fact. When the movie was released in 1993 it wasn't a success.

It wasn't until years later that the movies' popularity would hit great heights.

Hocus Pocus II would follow, and it was confirmed in June that there would be a third installment of the film.

Why so popular?

The movie combines comedy, fantasy, and adventure.

Plus, it's family-friendly which has made it a must-watch every Halloween in many New Jersey households.

Thanks to the dedicated fanbase of the movie and to celebrate its 30th anniversary, Hocus Pocus is returning to the big screen for one day only.

Friday, October 6 select AMC Theaters and Regal Cinemas will be showing the flick.

Be sure to check their sites for showtimes and get those tickets fast, because they will likely sell out.

If scary isn't your thing, check these out.
