VITA consists of volunteers who take and pass tax law training classes that either meet or exceed IRS standards. So basically, you're going to a qualified CPA, without having to pay the price of a CPA.

What Do You Have To Bring To Your VITA Appointment?

According to Ocean County Community College, there are a few things you have to bring to your VITA appointment, as well as a few rules.

  • If filing jointly, both you and your spouse must be present
  • You must bring last year's tax filing
  • A Government-issued ID
  • Social Security Card, or TIN
  • A Copy Of Last Year's Return
  • All W-2 and 1099 Forms
  • Forms 1095 A, B, or C
  • Information for other income
  • Deduction and Credits information

When Are VITA Appointments Available?

If you think you qualify for VITA, it is by appointment only, Monday through Thursday between the hours of  2 PM and 6 PM, as well as Fridays between 9 AM and 1 PM.
