Class A North

Middletown South 17, Freehold Township 2

Junior midfielder Colin Gallagher tallied five goals and one assist and senior attackman Steve Kirchner also scored five goals to send the Eagles (1-0, 1-0) to a season-opening victory over the Patriots (0-1, 0-1).

Kevin Dunphy added two goals while Beau Servidio had a goal and three assists and Mike Provini had a goal and two assists. Cole Hasnemi, Nick Wisnewski, and Jake Sawyer each scored once.

Aidan Harrington and Nick Carnevale scored goals for Freehold Township.

 

Manalapan 15, Marlboro 1

Junior attackman Anthony Macchio delivered three goals and three assists and junior attackman Christian Zdziarski totaled two goals and three assists to send the Braves (1-0, 1-0) to a season-opening victory over the Mustangs (0-2, 0-1).

Marc Stefanelli added two goals and two assists, Jason Rinaldi and Matt Avivi had two goals each, and Michael Bonner had a goal and an assist. Joe Kaminski, Dylan Friedman, and Joe Lurie chipped in with one goal apiece.

Freshman Connor Doel needed to make only one save to earn the win in goal.

 

Middletown North 7, Howell 5

Senior midfielder Reece O'Brien notched a hat trick and junior midfielder Hayden Mattos had two goals and one assist to send the Lions (1-0, 1-0) to a big season-opening win over the Rebels (0-2, 0-1).

Thomas Baron added a goal and an assist and Anthony Torregrossa scored once.

 

Class A South

Brick Memorial 10, Central 3

Freshman, Nick Correia sank two goals with two assists, freshman Jack D'Eufemia scored three goals and picked up eight ground balls, and senior Michael Occhiogrosso totaled two goals, two assists, and 12 ground balls to lead the Mustangs (1-1, 1-0) to a victory over the Golden Eagles (0-2, 0-1).

Junior midfielder Jake Bicking added two goals and one assist plus 12 ground balls and freshman LSM Trey Tallmadge had a goal, an assist, and a game-high 15 ground balls. Matt Hillin made five saves to earn the win in goal.

JAke Agugliaro had all three goals for Central and Brady Etzkorn stood tall with 15 saves.

 

Jackson Memorial 15, Toms River South 8

Junior attackman Drew Barocas erupted for a career-high 11 points and freshman Emanuel Jastrzebski sank three goals and dished out five assists in his high school debut to send the Jaguars (1-0, 1-0) to a season-opening win over the Indians (0-2, 0-1)

Barocas tied a career-high with seven goals and added a career-best four assists. Justin Perillo had two goals and two assists, Charlie Gumina had two goals and one assist, and Alex Ariel had a goal and an assist. Zack O'Connell won 14 of 17 face-offs and Russel Cender made 14 saves.

Ben Hartzfeld scored three goals and Brady Derome scored twice to lead Toms River South. Nicholas Romaine added a goal and an assist, Cal Narvaez scored once, and Nicholas Mueller made 12 saves.

 

Toms River East 11, Brick 2

Senior midfielder Luke Barber and sophomore midfielder Nate Cumming each totaled three goals and two assists to lead the Raiders (1-0, 1-0) to a win over the Dragons (0-2, 0-1) in their season-opening game.

Freshman attackman Nicholas Caruso had three goals and one assist and senior attackman Maxson Hutteman had two goals and two assists. Senior midfielder Joseph Scala added two assists and junior midfielder Tyler Godlesky chipped in with one assist.

 

Class B North

Shore 17, Red Bank 7

Junior attackman Carson Spallone scored a career-high five goals, FOGOs Tucker Malfa and Brendan O'Brien dominated the face-off X, and junior goalie Noah Karaban made six saves to backstop a superb defensive effort as the Blue Devils (1-0, 1-0) started their season with an impressive win over the Bucs (1-1, 0-1).

Junior attackman Brady Cooke scored four goals, senior attackman Ben Levy and senior midfielder Aidan Murphy had two goals and four assists each, sophomore midfielder Lukas Villa had two goals and one assist, junior midfielder Sam Madalone had a goal and an assist, and junior midfielder Lucas White scored once. Malfa and O'Brien combined to go 19-for-25 on face-offs.

Senior Ryder Villani and junior Andrew Pape had three goals each and freshman Gabe Pape scored once for Red Bank.

 

Holmdel 15, Ocean 1

Dylan Lagana sank five goals, Finnegan Buchan tallied four goals and one assist, and Will Gilfillan totaled a goal and five assists as the Hornets (2-0, 1-0) stormed past the Spartans (1-1, 0-1) in the division opener for both teams.

Also delivering multi-point games were Gary Collyer (1g, 3a), Jack Cannon (1g, 2a), and Kyle Kapcsos (1g, 1a). Matt Tempone and Greg Linsalata each scored once, Jack Powers won 10 of 11 face-offs and Andrew Arredondo made five saves to earn the win.

Ben Girard provided Ocean's lone goal.

 

Class B South

Wall 17, Point Boro 1

Senior attackman John McCurry recorded a career-high 12 points and junior Shea Brennan scored two goals and added four assists to spearhead the Crimson Knights (2-0, 1-0) in their victory over the Panthers (1-1, 0-1).

McCurry tied a career-high with nine goals and also dished out three assists. Will Madden added two goals and one assist, Connor Moore had a goal and two assists, and senior defenseman Billy Carr scored his second career goal. Sophomore attackman Jackson Lemongelli scored his first varsity goal and Pat Donohue also scored once. Sophomore FOGO Michael Hoarle won 16 of 18 face-offs and senior LSM Dominick Giglio picked up a game-high eight ground balls.

Brady Kirk scored the lone goal for Point Boro and Colin Cole made 21 saves.

 

Manasquan 17, St. Rose 0

 

Barnegat 9, Lacey 6

Robert Sawicki delivered two goals and two assists and Luke Tortorici scored once and dished out four assists to lead the Bengals (2-0, 1-0) past the Lions (1-1, 0-1).

Keegan Dunn had a goal and two assists and Seth Freiwald and Jakob Jason each scored twice. Bailey Carroll chipped in with a goal and an assist and Lucas Holland made 13 saves to earn the win.

Chad Moore made 21 saves and Corey Smith had two goals and one assist to lead Lacey. Evan Keller and Diego Wolf had a goal and an assist each.

 

Donovan Catholic 7, Jackson Liberty 5

Junior attackman Jack Farlekas scored four goals for the second straight game and senior goalie Dom Rocco Ciniglio made eight saves to send the Griffins (2-0, 1-0) to their second straight win to open the season.

Andrew Baltus added a goal and two assists while winning 11 of 15 face-offs. Jake Kerwin and Peyton Calvetto had a goal and an assist each.

Paul Capozzi had two goals and two assists, Reese Stewart had a goal and two assists, and Matthew LaBianca made nine saves for Jackson Liberty in its season-opener. Billy Schuler and Jeffrey White each scored once.

 

Nonconference

IMG Academy 12, CBA 8

Senior attackman Nick Blalock scored four goals with one assist and senior attackman Brendan Donnelly tallied three goals and one assist for the Colts (1-1) in their loss to powerful IMG Academy. Sophomore Davis Campbell scored once and junior goalie Brandon DeSena made five saves.

 

East Brunswick 12, Colts Neck 7

Sophomore Tyler Bowdown led the Cougars (0-1) with three goals and one assist in their loss to the Bears (1-1).

Luke Ferraro and Braeden SanFilippo had a goal and an assist each, Ethan Sloane and Sean Perkinson had one goal each, and Aaron Nasimov made 14 saves.
