Investigators looking for who a shot a Howell cat in the face with an arrow

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office SPCA Division and Howell Police Department are pulling together their efforts to find the person responsible for shooting a cat in the face with an arrow in Howell Township, announced Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni.

Howell Police were responding to a call around 6:15 pm on Monday May 6 about an injured cat.

When they arrived at the scene alongside Howell's Animal Control Officer on the 600 block of Casino Drive police found an adult cat who had been shot directly in the face with an arrow.

The cat was immediately taken to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital for treatment.

A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office SPCA Division and Howell Police Department then began that evening.

Officials believe that the weapon used was a small hand-held cross bow and that the cat is a community cat and had been fairly well cared for prior to the incident.

The cat the MCSPCA has named Kitty Luck, was sedated and had the arrow carefully removed by the staff at RBVH.

After Kitty Luck recovered from his procedure, he was taken to the MCSPCA shelter where he could recover.

Kitty is doing well and relaxing comfortably "after being subjected to this horrible act of cruelty."
