Here and there on a Thursday:

I think we’re all getting a bit impatient when it comes to the weather.  I was in Seaside Park yesterday afternoon and it felt more like November then early May and the extended forecast is not all that promising.

It seems like we get one really good day out of about 4 or 5 and just can’t seem to put together a stretch of several nice days in a row.  I hope this is not a trend that will continue into the summer.

James Holzhauer continued his winning ways on Jeopardy last night, collecting his 20th straight victory and earning $101,000 to bring his total to $1.5 million.  The 34-year old professional sports gambler from Las Vegas is tied for second place with the most consecutive winning shows but has a long way to go to catch Ken Jennings who won 74 games in 2004.

However because of his aggressive play Holzhauer, who is averaging over $76,000 a show, could surpass Jennings’ $2.5 million in earnings in about half the time.

Congratulations to coach Jim Rankin and the Jackson Liberty High School baseball team as they clinched the Class “B South” championship with a 5-2 victory over Point Boro Wednesday.  Kevin Ritz and David Melfi homered for the Lions, who have won 12 in-a-row and are 14-1 overall.  Liberty also earned the #2 seed in the Ocean County Tournament behind crosstown rival Jackson Memorial who handed them their lone loss of the season back in early April.

The OCT begins on Saturday and the seeds, parings and bracket can be found at shoresportsnetwork.com.

Central Regional High School will be looking for a new girls basketball coach as Dana Cerullo has stepped down after three seasons to spend more time with her growing family.  School administration is accepting resumes and will try and fill the vacancy as quickly as possible.
