Only about two months ago we brought you the news of the closure of Toms River's landmark Rivoli's on Fischer Blvd.

And now, only a few weeks into the new year, we know what will be filling the space soon.

My colleague Andy Chase snapped this photo of the Rivoli's sign, that became just as famous for its appearances on MTV's "Jersey Shore" as the restaurant was to a generation of Shore locals for its massive portions:

The White Rooster will specialize in authentic Cuban cuisine.

The new restaurant will be owned by the same folks who operate Caneda's, which specializes in authentic empanadas just a block further up Fischer Blvd.

You can follow Caneda's Facebook page by clicking here, where owner Patricia Caneda has been posting regular updates on the progress of turning Rivoli's into The White Rooster.

It didn't pass my attention, by the way, that millions of Chinese people just celebrated the Lunar New Year this past weekend, which just happens to be the Year of the Rooster. Maybe an early sign of good luck!

Right now, the team is targeting early spring to cut the ribbon on the new restaurant.
