A Whiting woman is in critical but stable condition after being involved in a two car collision on Thursday afternoon around 4:31 pm on Route 530.

Manchester  Police responded to investigate a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles that collided head-on, near the intersection of Congasia Road.

Officers determined that a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer was heading east on Route 530 when suddenly he veered over the centerline at a curve in the roadway, continued across the westbound lanes and onto the shoulder before crashing head-on into a 2015 Toyota Sienna.

The Mitsubishi was being operated by its sole occupant, 86-year old Ombra DeMaio of Whiting.

Police say that DeMaio was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision and the Mitsubishi had front and side airbag deployment.

DeMaio sustained neck and chest injuries as a result of the collision and was transported via Life Flight Medevac helicopter to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, where she was listed in critical but stable condition.

The Toyota was being operated by its sole occupant, 46-year old Marco Sadsad of Barnegat.

Sadsad was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision and the Toyota had front and side airbag deployment.

He was transported to Community Medical Center by Quality Medical Transport for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is being investigated by Patrolman Michael O’Hara of the Manchester Township Traffic Safety Unit.
