Former Brick Mayor’s Son Commits Suicide In NYC

A very sad story to pass on, as multiple news outlets are reporting the suicide of Glenn Scarpelli, son of former Brick mayor Joseph Scarpelli.

The New York Post was first on the story early this morning, reporting that Glenn Scarpelli and his wife Patricia Colant jumped from a building in New York City in an apparent double suicide.

The Post notes that the couple left behind a note that suggested that financial struggles were behind the tragic event.

The news outlet cites a source who said that the note ended with the following heartbreaking final sentence, "our kids are upstairs, please take care of them".

Joseph Scarpelli was mayor of Brick until 2006.
