Egg Harbor Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a township resident over the weekend.

Jose Costa, 37, was heading east on Ocean Heights Avenue near Leap Street in the Scullville section of town, around 12:42 am, when he lost control of his vehicle, left the road, and struck a utility pole, according to the preliminary investigation by police.

He was extricated from his vehicle by the Scullville and Bargaintown Fire Companies, but Costa had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
