Just take a look at the photo above, of an apple tree literally dripping with fruit.

Go ahead, I'll give you a moment.

The only way I can think of that being more enticing is if you could smell it as well.

It's fall, which means that apple season is here, and man did I dive in feet first this past weekend!

I visited an old friend of mine out in southern Pennsylvania, in the very heart of apple country.

I'm not joking when I say that the roads are practically paved with apples this time of year. Orchards crisscross the countryside, littering the ground with their fruit.

I'm lucky enough to have a friend who lives in the middle of an orchard.

Like, literally. His family's backyard is an apple orchard.

It's become a tradition that I take a road trip out there every fall to fill up on all the apples that I can carry home. And this year was no exception.

Actually, this year may have been a record. When I got on the scale at home with bags of apples slung across my body, the true scope of my gluttony was right there in the LED numbers - I came home with nearly 70 pounds worth of apples.

As the kids say these days - sorry, not sorry!

Of course, I'll be sharing. Eating 70 pounds of apples while they're still at the peak of deliciousness would be enough to put even the most devoted off of them for quite some time I'd think.

While I enthusiastically recommend a trip out to Adams County, PA for pure apple overload, we certainly have any number of outstanding orchards right here in Ocean County and throughout the shore. Just click here for a handy guide to local apple picking!
