A Toms River 33-year-old who police say has drug convictions in his past faces new possession and distribution charges after a search of his house early this morning.

Scott Mays was apprehended after township officers, armed with a warrant, found oxycodone, a pound of marijuana, $5,000 cash, packing materials and a scale in his Adams Avenue dwelling, according to information from Toms River PD.

Mays was held on $20,000 bail to await processing on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession of oxycodone and possession of drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

Police did not explain the circumstances that led to the issuance of a search warrant.
