Earle teens move to Colts Neck HS in September
High schoolers in families assigned to Naval Weapons Station Earle will get their educations a little closer to home, beginning this September.
They'll become students of Colts Neck High School, transitioning from their current spots in Freehold Regional, according to information released by the Navy today.
According to Naval officials, the agreement they reached with Monmouth County school adminiatrators and the Freehold Regional district involves 15 students.
NWS Earle Commanding Officer Jay Steingold said that the revision would reduce commuting distance and time, and offer access to Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps and related programs.
"Our Sailors regularly interact with our neighbors in Colts Neck," said Steingold. "Having our children educated in that same community only serves to strengthen that bond."
Students in grades K through 8 will continue to attend classes in Tinton Falls.
